What is Social Distancing?

Social distancing is a non-medicinal method to prevent the spread of a contagious disease by maintaining certain physical distance between people in public places during the outbreak of contagious disease.  It reduces the transmission of infection or minimizes the exposure by avoiding the occurrence of mass gathering where infected’s can come into contact with uninfected’s.

Why is Social Distancing important during pandemic diseases?

Social distancing is quite important during pandemic diseases like COVID-19 (coronavirus).  The diseases which are contagious and certain drugs or vaccines have not been developed for such diseases can spread worldwide like the fire.  If such wildfire is not controlled in time, the fire can devastate all the forest and the animals in the forest like in Australia recently.  Contagion can so easily be spread when there are no vaccines or medicines for such.  The social distancing creates certain physical distance between the individuals, which breaks the chain made between disease and people, hence stopping the spread of pandemic like COVID-19 (coronavirus).

How to protect during amidst coronavirus?

Stay at Home:  It is the best measure to be safe amidst this pandemic.  Need to stay at home as far as one can possible.

Physical Distance:  If you go to public place, you should maintain distance with other people at least 6 feet.  Do not handshake or hug with other people.

Washing Hands:  We should wash our hands with soap and water very frequently for about 20 seconds after sneezing, coughing, or going out in public.  One can use sanitizer with 60% alcohol instead of soap and water.

Not to touch your face:  Should avoid touching your face with hands especially eyes, nose, and mouth.

Wear Mask:  Going out in public, you should always wear mask covering your nose and mouth.  N-95 mask is the proper mask.

What is Social Distancing?

Cover your sneeze and cough:  Sneeze and cough should be always covered by tissue and should throw the used tissue in dustbin and close the bin.  You can also sneeze or cough in your elbow.

Drink Hot Water:  One can also drink hot water and even take steam if your area is at risk.

Cook thoroughly meat and eggs before eating.  Virus can exist in meat and eggs, so meet and eggs should be cooked well.

Seek Medical Care:  You should seek immediate medical care if you have flu like symptoms.
