This animated video talks about Mammography and the breast mammogram procedure. A Mammography procedure uses low dose X-rays to view and detect changes in breast tissues. A woman’s breasts are composed of glandular tissue, ducts, fats, connective tissue and blood vessels. If you detect changes in your breast tissues such as a lump or mass that matches the symptoms of breast cancer or if you are at least forty years old, your doctor may schedule you for a breast mammogram. Before the mammogram, you will be advised by your doctor to make sure that your breasts and underarms are clean. mammogram usually takes about 20 minutes; a technician will assist in the mammography positioning by placing one of your breasts between two specialised plates. The plates will compress to flatten your breast so that the camera can get clear pictures of your breast tissue. This procedure will then be repeated on your other breast. After the procedure, you would have to wait until the radiologist reviews your X-rays. Watch the video to know more about mammogram and mammography.
