DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION / REQUIREMENTS:

The Centre for Mental Health and Counselling – Nepal (CMC-Nepal), a national level NGO working on mental health and psychosocial support, launches a call for applications in the framework of the Psychosocial Component of the Safer Migration Project (SaMi) phase III. SaMi is a bilateral initiative of the Governments of Nepal (GoN) and Switzerland. It is implemented in leadership of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MoLESS) and participating local governments, with technical assistance from Helvetas Nepal.

To address the social cost of the migration, SaMi/HELVETAS have entered into the partnership with Center for Mental Health and Counseling Nepal (CMC-Nepal) which has expertise in providing psychosocial support training and coaching psychosocial counselors. CMC-Nepal will provide psychosocial support to the returnee and their families relating to the COVID-19.

CMC-Nepal is supporting SaMi in the provision of psychosocial support in the 39 districts of implementation of the project. It therefore seeks candidates for the following positions:

1. Psychosocial Supervisor- 1 full-time position for regular project, based in provincial office with frequent field visits to local governments implementing SaMi) is responsible to supervise and support the psychosocial counsellors in providing psychosocial counselling services to the migrant workers and their families left behind at the field level. Supervisor is expected to support in training and continuous supervision of the psychosocial counselors at field level.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in psychology or counselling psychology or mental health social work from recognized university with two years of experience as a psychosocial supervisor or bachelor degree in social science with at least five years of working experiences as psychosocial counsellors in migration field (with migrant workers and their families) under close supervision from expert clinical psychologists/ psychologists.
  • Having strong experience in conducting training in psychosocial counseling and supervision of psychosocial counselors, community psychosocial workers and other developmental actors
  • Having good comprehension and learning attitude in psychosocial interventions
  • Practical and strong background in supervising psychosocial counselling skills of counsellors. At least two years of practice in supervising local psychosocial counselors will be advantage for the post.
  • Experience of working with migration will be advantage.
  • Experience in coordination with multi-stakeholders (GOs/I/NGOs) for the effectiveness of the service, including referral service
  • Good report writing and documentation skills in both English and Nepali language
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships within and outside the organization
  • Willing to travel extensively

    2. Project Coordinator cum Psychologist – 1 full-time position for COVID Response for 6 months, based in CMC-Nepal’s central office, Kathmandu) is responsible for overall planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the project activities. The person in this position is responsible for coordination of COVID19 response activities at provincial/local government and with SaMi/Helvetas, mobilization of the psychologists/senior counsellors in providing psychosocial counselling service to the returnee migrant workers living at quarantine centre, home quarantine and home isolation. Project Coordinator is expected to coordinate with CMC-Nepal’s psychosocial experts and build the capacity to the psychologists/senior counsellors through training and continuous supervision, relating psychosocial support as part of COVID-19 response. The person in this position is also expected to support psychosocial supervisors in training and supervision of the regular project.

    Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in psychology or counselling psychology or mental health social work from recognized university or bachelor degree in social science with at least five years of working experiences as psychosocial supervisor in psychosocial field (under close supervision from expert clinical psychologists/ psychologists.
  • At least three years of experience as a project coordinator cum psychologist responsibility, having management competence
    Having strong experience in conducting training in psychosocial counseling and supervision of psychosocial supervisors, psychosocial counselors, community psychosocial workers and other developmental actors
  • Having good comprehension and learning attitude in psychosocial interventions
  • Experience in coordination with multi-stakeholders (GOs/I/NGOs) for the effectiveness of the service, including referral service
  • Good report writing and documentation skills in both English and Nepali language
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships within and outside the organization
  • Willingness to work with the migrant workers and their families affected by the COVID-19

    3. Psychologist/Senior Psychosocial Counsellors – 6 full-time position for COVID Response for 6 months, based in province offices in Province no 1, 2, Bagmati Province and Province no 5) is responsible in providing psychosocial counselling service to the returnee migrants at quarantine and isolation centre, home quarantine and isolation. Candidates are requested to mention province you are interested to work in the application.

    Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in psychology or counselling psychology or mental health social work from recognized university with two years of experience as a psychosocial supervisor or bachelor degree in social science with at least five years of working experiences as psychosocial counsellors in migration, GBV, natural disaster and conflict field under close supervision from expert clinical psychologists/ psychologists.
  • Having strong experience in conducting training in psychosocial counseling and supervision of psychosocial counselors, community psychosocial workers and other developmental actors
  • Having good comprehension and learning attitude in psychosocial interventions
  • Experience in coordination with multi-stakeholders (GOs/I/NGOs) for the effectiveness of the service, including referral service
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships within and outside the organization
  • Willingness to work with the migrant workers and their families affected by the COVID-19

    4. Documentation Officer (1 full-time position for regular project, based in Kathmandu with field visits in project districts) is responsible for supporting psychosocial supervisors, psychosocial counsellors/social workers in data management, case documentation and writing success stories of SaMi project.

    Requirements:

  • Master degree in psychology or social work or relevant subjects (including public health), and working experience with migrant worker and their families in mental health and psychosocial approach
  • Having good comprehending and learning attitude in mental health and psychosocial field
  • Good level of skills in data management of psychosocial support work of PS counsellors in the local level, report writing skills and case documentation skills in English, along with knowledge and skills in SPSS and other research and documentation tools.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in building rapport with the groups, supporting psychosocial counsellors/social workers
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
  • Project monitoring skills.
